33 Comstock Hill Avenue

Early New England has a long history of hunting and Lower Fairfield County is no exception. As New York City and the surrounding areas became more populated, wealthy city dwellers, either alone or in partnership, purchased large tracts of land in the country in order to enjoy the sport on weekends or at their leisure. The land would also house some sort of camp or lodge for their overnight stay. The Silvermine area was no stranger to this type of land usage. In fact, several homes in Silvermine have either a hunting lodge attached to them or are a lodge that has seen additions made to it over the years.

One such home is located at 33 Comstock Hill Avenue in Norwalk. Public tax records indicate it was built in 1920 and was originally a hunting lodge. One of the many attractions of this home is the stone fireplace that provides a focal point upon entering. The current owners have also left the game hooks in the rafters in the kitchen. Over the years, additions have included a master bedroom suite, raising the roof, air conditioning and an in-ground pool. The property combines the charm of Silvermine with a most convenient location.
