Buildings of Change: Keynote talk for Houses of Change tour

Christopher Wigren, Deputy Director of Preservation Connecticut and author of Connecticut Architecture, will give a free, public lecture at the Norwalk Public Library in advance of Norwalk Preservation Trust’s upcoming tour, Houses of Change.
“A work of architecture is never truly finished. in big and small ways, its users continue to reshape it. Changing times and tastes and fortunes leave their mark on individual buildings, while neighborhoods and communities grow or shrink. Adaptation to new uses allows obsolete structures to continue to function, either as a matter of frugality or because they are valued for their design or meaning. Often, the most interesting places are those that have many layers of meaning.”
